I'm still alive

For those of you who are wondering if I've fallen off of the face of the Earth, well, I'm still here. For those of you who think I haven't picked up my camera in several months, well, you are right. BUT, I do have some new pictures that I took a couple of weeks ago that I'm editing. One hint, they include a poofy white dress. I think they're OK, I just wish we had been in a better location.

I got a new camera back for Christmas from Brian, maybe that will motivate me to start taking pics. For those of you who haven't ready my other blog, I'm pregnant. I know the new baby who is due in June will really get me taking pictures! Anyway, I can't post the new pictures until after the big wedding day. But I promise to start taking more pics!!

Free Sessions

I know that my sister has posted a link to my site from her Facebook and MySpace pages. If anyone is interested in having a free session with me, let me know. I will edit your photos for you and give you a copy on CD to use however you want. Right now I'm just trying to get more experience and more pictures to add to my portfolio. This would be a great deal for someone wanting Senior portraits, engagement pictures, bridal portraits, family pictures, or single portraits.

I live in Cincinnati, but would be willing to travel back to my home town, or any town near by or in between. If you got here from Angie's post you know where my home town is. Please understand that I do work 3 days a week as a full time nurse, but I will do my best to work with your schedule. Just leave a comment here or send me an e-mail.

Pictures from my first actual photo shoot are up!

I took my sister Angie and her fiance Brandon's engagement pictures this past weekend. I still have a TON to edit and get posted, but I thought I would post so everyone can see what I've got so far. We had a lot of fun and spent almost all day taking pictures. We started out taking pictures at my parents house, then at the train tracks by their house, then a state park in their home town, and finally at the high school that Angie, Brandon, and I graduated from. Angie and Brandon met in high school and we were hoping to get a few inside the building, but it was locked up for the holiday weekend.

Keep checking back to my Flickr account this week and next as I post more pictures. Here are a few of my favorites so far.

Thanks guys! Angie I can't wait to take your bridal portraits!!

Oh, and comments are welcome either here or on Flickr! Let me know what you think and any suggestions on way to improve for next time are appreciated! I'm still learning as I go.

Krohn Conservatory Butterfly Show 2008

Here in Cincinnati the Krohn Conservatory has a butterfly show every spring. I have never been to it before, but was determined to go this year. It was fun, but man was it busy. I was thinking that if I went on a week day in the morning it would be quiet. WRONG! The place was full of kids there on field trips. At lunch time it cleared out a little bit while the kids went to eat. If you live in Cincinnati and have never been before go check it out. It's only $6 to get in, $5 with their coupon.

Here are a few of my shots. You can see more on my Flickr site.

My Favorite Blog

I visit this blog multiple times a day. To check for new posts, use a recipe, leave a comment in hopes of winning one of her many give aways, and to learn about photography and photoshop. Out of all the books I have checked out from the library about photography or photoshop her blog is still the easiest to read and understand.

Oh, and she has a free set of Photoshop actions to download. Check it out!!!

Confessions of a Pioneer Woman.

I went to the butterfly show here in Cincinnati today. Hopefully I will have a chance to upload some pictures Saturday.

Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey, Chim Chim Chirroo!

I went out onto our third floor roof while the sky was over cast to shoot some pictures. Have I mentioned that I'm scared of heights??

And something that I realized a few weeks ago is that we can see downtown from our back yard.

Have I mentioned that I'm really scared of heights??

This is our neighbors roof line. I think it's really pretty.

Have I mentioned that I was three stories up and scared of heights??

EEEEK!

Basilica

Yeah, so I take pictures while I'm driving. Is that considered wreckless driving?? I took this while driving home the other day. Yes, the car was moving.

Happy 75th Anniversary Krohn Conservatory!!

Krohn Conservatory is a free conservatory here in Cincinnati in Eden Park. I had never been there before, but I went yesterday to take pictures. I just happened to show up the day before their 75th anniversary! This place is gorgeous. It's just what the Dr. ordered when you have cabin fever and need to see some green and blooming flowers. Here are some of my shots.

There was one room full of nothing but orchids, it was beautiful. I can't wait to go back in a couple months for their annual butterfly show.

You can click on the slide show to the right to get to my Flickr account. I am working on getting more pictures uploaded from yesterday. Let me know what you think. As a beginning photography I'm diffidently interested in any opinions.

Welcome!!

Welcome to my new blog! I've been taking pictures for as long as I can remember. Probably ever since my parents got me a hot pink camera for Christmas when I was in elementary school. Hey, it was the 80's, hot pink was my favorite color back then! I just recently bought my first digital SLR. I'm still learning everything it can do. I would love to start taking portraits of families, engaged couples, children, newborns, you name it. I also love taking landscapes and pictures of my family.
